Hecla injunction hearing set for October 4

Spokane superior court judge grants extension of time to October 5 for hearings on the Day and Smith complaint seeking to permanently restrain Hecla Mining officers from ratifying the Star mine purchase from Bunker Hill. Columbus Pressor On The Ground Awaiting Operation

A new compressor for the Columbus Mining Company has been delivered at Eagle Creek and is being installed. A boiler from Dudley’s Mining Timbers Company, managed by I R Work, is in good condition. A carload of brick from Spokane will enclose the boiler. Drifting in the Eagle tunnel continues with encouraging results as J P Gallagher, Philadelphia president and chief stockholder, is due soon.

Develop Hill Group on the Caledonia Vein

Patrick Brady and W. J. Stratton secured an option on nearly all Hill Mining & Milling stock to develop near Wardner. The vein is four feet wide with 4 percent lead and 6 ounces of silver, exposed in crosscuts and tunnels as plans aim to drift from the East Caledonia shaft and extend the 400 level toward Hill ground for a possible ore shoot akin to the Caledonia.

Paragon official visits Murray mining property inquiring on power

F O Hammer secretary treasurer of Paragon Consolidated Mining arrived in Murray with an engineer and J C Feehan to inspect the old Murray Hill Blackhorse property. The mill has been idle due to water power failure and reports say Paragon seeks electric power by extending lines from Giant Ledge via Washington Water Power.

Cedar Creek Company Western Union Leases Plans of Development

The Cedar Creek Mining and Development Company plans continued underground work after a recent strike boosts prospects at the Western Union mine. An assessment was levied to fund repairs after a fire destroyed the cook house, with leasing kept as the operating method. Four lease outfits will work No. 3 and No. 4 levels, extending tunnels and crosscuts to find new ore shoots while maintaining strong returns for leasers and the company.

Argentine Leasing Firm Elects Officers In Kellogg

Stockholders met in Kellogg last week and elected Karl F. Nelson as president John Stoykoff as vice president M W Emmett as secretary treasurer Steve Carrick as manager. George Newsome joins them on the board of directors. The firm now works on the old Argentine mine two miles west of the city aiming to locate a lipping ore.

Macedonian Group to Organize Company for Slate Creek Property

A. M. Mundell, long active on the west fork of Slatecreek, seeks to organize a company to finance further development of the Macedonian group. Exhibits at the Carter Home show gatena and iron forms typical of the district. The 21-claim Macedonian group spans several veins, with tunnels and shafts yielding encouraging results, located about six miles from the Milwaukee railroad via wagon road.

Ajax Mining plans deep crosscut tunnel to access ore

Ajax Mining Company manager A C Bixby announced in the city that a deep crosscut tunnel will be driven about a mile above Durke and 300 feet from the wagon road to drain and explore below current workings. Preliminary work includes wagon road buildout, site grading, and removal of old equipment from the Moonlight tunnel.

American-Commander Compressor Ready for Motor Work

H B Kingsbury manager of American-Commander Mining Milling reports the new compressor is in position and ready for operation once the motor arrives. An attorney pipe is laid to the upper tunnel face and work continues near the east end to explore an exposed vein, with a short tunnel likely to be driven there.

Banquet for Bain Promotes Mines Bureau Contact

Dr H Foster Bain director of the United States Bureau of Mines visited the Coeur d Alenes for a banquet attended by about 80 mining managers engineers and officials. Speakers stressed safety efficiency and closer bureau field cooperation with Moscow station highlighted as solving local metallurgical problems.
