Wallace plans teachers' institute fund drive in Wallace

Wallace board of trade backs a teachers Institute fundraiser with an expected $600 to $700 from local subscriptions plus a $150 initial pledge. Imperial Will Raise Connect Two Tunnels

Imperial Mining plans to connect lower and upper tunnels by a 700 foot raise after promising vein exposure in the upper tunnel. Lead-silver ore runs up to 6 percent lead in a vein up to 20 feet wide with a 60 foot winze sunk.

Pine Creek Railroad Soon to Be Built

Fred Herrick of Milwaukee Lumber said construction may start soon once railroad heads sign papers. Plans call to move four locomotives and cars from a logging line to Pine Creek, extending about four miles up the west fork to Milwaukee Lumber timber. The right of way has been cleared and mining activity has revived on Pine Creek.

Senators Johnson and Roosevelt Will Visit Shoshone County

Major F J Quigley reports talks with John Thomas about visiting speakers for the campaign. Senator Hiram Johnson of California is expected to speak in Wallace soon after Constitution Day when the campaign opens. Colonel Theodore Roosevelt may also visit later, having spoken in Butte and Billings recently. the national committee cites Idaho as a key battleground to bolster Republican chances.

The Hypotheek Mining & Milling company reports reduced floating debt and improved financial standing over the past two years. Directors levy a five mill assessment to fund continuing development, including a new tunnel 240 feet in, targeting an intersection of veins likely to yield a main ore body.

St Lawrence Copper Mining Drift Advances 400 Feet

Henry M imncane of Saltese and Mrs Lancaster reported at Samuels Monday night. They said the drift east for the St Lawrence mine has advanced about 400 feet and some ore was found. Lancaster theorizes the St Lawrence is the top of a larger ore body moved west by a monzonite intrusion and plans to drift west from the lower tunnel. He aims to prove this with winter work, despite staffing difficulties.

Star Mining seeks Supreme Court review after appeals denial

The Federal Mining and Smelting company appeals to the U S Supreme Court for a writ of certiorari following the San Francisco Court of Appeals denial of a rehearing in the Star Mining versus Federal case. If granted, the high court will review the case. if denied, the appellate decision becomes final.

Bryan Ore Body Shows 15 Foot Wide Strike

Burns reports a 15 foot wide ore body at Bryan mine after a Swede triggered a crosscut test. The ore runs north toward the hanging wall, with eight feet of top ore richest. Development will continue to the hanging wall and tie with a 400 foot above tunnel showing high silver values. Burns denies sale rumors as ownership remains Burns and Day. The Bryan lies on Pack Creek west fork near Saltewe in Silver State mining district.
