Sidney Ore Body Main Tunnel Progress Report
Fred W. Calloway of Kellogg, mining engineer, reports Sidney option holders continue shipping carbonate ore from surface workings while crosscutting and drifting to prove a second vein beneath leasers. He aims to cut the vein to connect with exposed sulfide ore, hoping for a large body of ore within six weeks, as the ground is very hard and hand-worked. The article also lists standing committees for the new year, including Entertainment, Publicity, Public Welfare, Membership, Good Roads, Trade and Industrial, Public Affairs, and Finance.

Success Ore Shipments From Success Mine Increase
Two cars of ore were shipped last week from the Success mine and the same number is expected this week. The ore is projected to yield about 60 percent lead and 50 joules in silver. A raise on the ore is under way, stopes will be opened, and the mill will run longer than one shift. The ore shoot extends 200 feet with high grade ore at the west face, spurring former stockholders to seek restoration of stock sold for unpaid assessments.

Gas Tax and County Road Supervision Favored at Good Roads Meeting
About 50 Sho shone County Good Roads members and several legislature candidates attended a library room meeting to consider enacting a gasoline tax for road maintenance and appointing a county supervisor of roads to replace district supervisors. Proposals cite a 2 cent per gallon tax yielding roughly 12 480 dollars plus 2 500 from tourists, and a county supervision plan reducing costs from 8 850 to under 5 000 dollars with a supervisor, five men, and a caterpillar. Resolutions favored both measures and a follow up meeting will push the board of commissioners to adopt the new supervision plan. The Sonora Mining & Milling Co awarded H L Jaynes a contract to drive a 100 foot crosscut, aiming to reach a vein deeper than previous finds. The vein appears new, likely 50 feet wide, with quartz iron-stained ore and galena, indicating a potentially valuable ore body.
