Hecla reports five feet of high grade ore on the 2000 level

The Great Hecla ore shoot shows five feet of solid high grade galena on the 2000 level with no zinc. Lookout Pass Road Construction Likely Next Spring

New Quarters Built Near Portal of Lower Tunnel

Columbus Mining company crews on east Eagle creek have built a new work camp near the lower tunnel portal to house workers during winter. The tunnel, begun in summer, advances 80 feet into quartzite with the vein expected to be reached within about 20 feet, promising a depth beyond 500 feet. The 1400 foot upper tunnel, 200 feet above, has opened three veins with lead-silver ore showing high silver values.
