Federal and Hecla settle Apex gage dispute out of court
The Federal Mining and Smelting company and Hecla Mining company have reportedly settled their dispute over the east vein at the Russell claim with both sides halting all trial preparations. No terms are released, managers are abroad, and speculation over the settlement persists as ongoing litigation details remain undisclosed. The case began last November with claims the east vein apex lies in the Federal owned Russell claim and involved efforts to force accounting for ore valued at millions.

Two Pioneers Pass Away In California
A notice from J W Wimner reports the death of J T Argyle in Ocean Park California on October 11 after a two week illness. Argyle was a Coeur d Alene pioneer arriving in 1884 to mine on the North Side and later served as county commissioner and as assessor and tax collector in Wallace. He moved to southern California about 15 years ago and leaves a second wife and three children by his first wife. Also noted is the death of Ewen McIntosh, a Kellogg prominent citizen, in San Diego California on October, who served two terms as county commissioner and had long TB illness prompting his move south.
