Increased Use of Zinc Gives Better Outlook
A New York business official from a wine products company says a rise in domestic zinc demand is likely as stocks tighten. He notes zinc roofing advantages boost consumption and predicts about 1,000 extra tons in months ahead, with overall monthly production around 24,000 tons annually. New York dispatch reports August shipments up over July by 50 percent to 20,000 tons, with stocks down 6,000 tons and production cut by 1,000 tons to about one-fifth capacity.

New Stope Opens East of Old Workings With Rich Lead Silver Ore
A new stope to the east of the old workings shows ore of the same high lead and silver values but in a different appearance. About a foot along the footwall and similar amount on the hangings carry lower grade ore between, while other lessees east of the lease drill toward the ore shoot. On No 3 level, drift plans advance 100 feet under agreement, with indicators pointing to the ore shoot within 60 feet.

Idaho Leasing Drives Crosscut Toward New Ore Body
Idaho Leasing, owner of the Black Dear workings in the Frisco division owned by Federal Mining & Smelting, is driving a crosscut south from No 2 tunnel. After a fault, no ore was found east, but about 35 feet in a stringer of lead-silver ore appeared at the face, signaling a favorable ore shoot nearby. The mill has started and is running on lead-silver and inc ore, with zinc decreasing at the east end, suggesting the new ore body may be primarily lead-silver.
