Burton I French congressman from Idaho’s First district outlined Republican gains in 18 months, stressing a protective tariff and a booming Coeur d Alene mining sector. Milling Ore Shows Steady Gain In Amazon-Dixie Vein

Wesley Everett, manager of the Amazon-Dixie company, reported in the city that after cutting the vein on the 1500 level, the drift has advanced 225 feet west with improved ore showing. The vein crosscuts 11 feet wide and remains so, with lead silver and copper ore throughout, including a narrow streak that has widened to five or six inches over 25 feet, indicating a strong milling ore grade.

Galena stockholders to meet on Nov 22

Formal notices have been mailed to Galena Mining stockholders calling a meeting in this city on November 22. Donald A. Callahan, president, explains in a circular that a consolidation proposal with Callahan Zinc Lead may be presented. Callahan Zinc Lead owns about 61 percent of Galena stock. directors meet November 21 to prepare a plan and likely stock exchange terms. Stockholders should attend or send proxies.

Two furnaces run at Bunker Hill as metal prices rise

The Bunker Hill smelter now operates two furnaces with a 200 man payroll after months of labor shortages. Ore shipments come from Coeur d Alene and from Tanner and Boundary counties as well as Oregon Washington Montana and British Columbia. Experts expect higher lead and zinc prices and a stable silver price through Pittman act expirations, with plans for international agreements to fix silver values.

Callahan Campaigning For State Senate Seat

Michael B Welch foreman of the Hercules mine at Jurko died after a mining accident when a hoist cable strained and a pipe struck him. He had worked in mining 27 years, 19 as foreman, and was active in the Elks and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Success Mine Advances as Mill Adds Shift

The Success mine moves toward its former standing among district producers. A second shift has been added at the mill this week, with potential for full-time operation as output rises. Unwatering to the 560 level is planned to cross butt the big ore shoot 160 feet below current workings. Shipments of concentrates and crude ore continue, with eleven cars stripped to date.

Northern Pacific to restore all train service November 13

J C Sanders, agent of the Northern Pacific Railroad, announced daily passenger service between Wallace and Missoula will resume Monday November 13 with similar restoration for local Wallace to Burke and Wallace to Mulvin routes. Also noted is a court order requiring cause in district court on November 10 1922 in Wallace Idaho to restrain further proceedings in the matter.
