Rex Consolidated begins crosscutting Okanogan vein

Rex Consolidated Mining starts development after idle period. Two shifts are crosscutting from Rex Workings toward the Okanogan vein, parallel to Rex, with hopes of similar productivity. Delaware vein expected to be developed next, shaft to reach 1000 feet total. Financing of £150,000 confirmed. Raymond Guyer, Rex general manager, visited the property last Saturday.

Adam Ausbach arrived from Murray on mining business and revisited old ties to Murray and Wallace. He founded Murray’s Sun, shaping district news and public improvements including water, light, and a Murray Wallace telephone line. Stewart Mining Company controlling Nabob Consolidated Mining faces a June 1 execution for about 24000 plus costs, total around 40000, unless the debt to J E Codd and Chas Fisher is satisfied. The Nabob mill closed after high costs and freight. ore remains, and under normal conditions the Nabob could return to profit.

He said the property has been developed intermittently to build a solid ore body for future reserves as mining conditions improve, noting regular shipments and modest profits despite high costs and freight rates.

Memorial Day Observance Honoring the Heroic Dead

The Women’s Relief Corps plans Memorial Day activities next Monday with a 10 a.m. parade from the court house to the Sixth Street bridge for a water ceremony honoring fallen service members. Afterward Civil War veterans, women, and children will ride to the cemetery under War Mothers direction. A flag-raising by Grand Army veterans and a brief address by Rev. Mr. Sanders precede a firing squad and taps. Dinner for veterans follows at Odd Fellows hall. Four Wallace World War I veterans remain: Samuel Bowers, CS Hawley. Dolinsenant Harry Williams. M. J. Sanders, pastor. and an evening patriotic service led by the same.

Lookout Mountain Property Praised by Mine Inspector

Progress advances on the Lookout Mountain property at Pine Creek with a lower crosscut tunnel. Machinery installed recently works well and miners expect 3 to 5 feet of progress per day. The crosscut aims to reach the vein at about 800 feet depth, then a short drift will access ore in the upper workings. State Mine Inspector Stewart Campbell visited recently and expressed approval of the ore showing and development plans.

Hecla Mining Cuts Dividend as Ore Reserves Grow

Directors of Hecla Mining reduce the quarterly dividend to 8 cents per share for stockholders of record June 1, payable June 28. Strong ore reserves at Hecla, led by main ore body on the 2000 level and east ore body settlement, plus improved lead prices, support a bright profit outlook. plans include moving the old Tiger mill power plant to the Hecla plant and tearing down the Tiger mill building.

Drift West Promises Rich Find At Cedar Creek

Cedar Creek progress shows a west drift under a top ore show in the tunnel above. The run is about 7 feet distant and could reach the target by June 10. A vein of strong ore is developing, with confidence of an important ore shoot upon completion. East drift exposes milling grade lead silver and zinc, with expectations of better ore in the next drift.
