Cedar Creek Mine Advances In Ore Rich Cedar Creek Shaft

Cedar Creek Mining & Development reports final development plans for a permanent mine. A two compartment shaft from No 8 tunnel is down 90 feet and in ore, with 15 inches of lead-silver and several feet of mill ore. Crosscuts and drifts indicate hanging wall shoots 4100 feet long, averaging three feet, and two shoots totalling large tonnage. The company owns 31 claims and operates a 10,000 feet per day sawmill adjacent to timber stands, as management plans for a mill progress with ore shipments to follow.

Independence Leads Push On Promising Ore Stringer

Under Stanley J. Moore, Independence Lead Mines drifts east on a promising stringer starting 50 feet back in No 4 tunnel. The stringer, mainly quartz with 4 small galena, may yield a notable ore shoot. Raise progress improves as the company accelerates with bonuses, Moore optimistic on development and plans. Kingsbury says cartnerment will resume on American Commander about June 1 under Moore.

Strike on the Yankee Boy opens deep ore potential

The Sunshine Mining Company reports a major strike on the Yankee Boy vein in a lower crosscut at Big Creek. The 18 foot wide ore face yields milling ore with 46 percent lead and 158 ounces of silver, plus copper stringers. a new drift targets extended ore as engineers study the faulted downed vein and its link to nearby Polaris and copper leads.

Board of Trade backs plan to save Wallace Burke rail service

The Board of Trade formed a large committee led by R. T. Strachen to press Northern Pacific to keep local passenger trains running between Wallace and Burke and Wallace and Mullan. They cited 60 Burke mine employees living in Wallace, potential future riders, and the need to ease Burke housing pressure while promoting rail patronage over jitneys. A spokesman from Northern Pacific confirmed summer discontinuation unless public demand increases. committee aims to quantify support among Wallace businesses and affected patrons to push for a restored, expanded schedule.

City Tax Levy Meeting To Seek 5 Mill Increase

Mayor Toole calls taxpayers to a June 1 meeting in the council chamber to authorize raising the city levy from 10 to 15 mills for the coming year. The move would not raise taxes but allow the same levy as last year. without it, city services face cuts to cover fixed expenses.

Annual meeting of the Callahan Zinc Lead Company directors will be held in New York on June 18. Attending are Donald A. Callahan C W Newton and Dr L E Hanson, the three local directors. Mr Callahan expects to leave June 12 with Mrs Callahan and daughter for a pleasure as well as business trip. They will visit Boston and other eastern cities and some famous summer resorts.

Lookout Pass Road Contract Awarded in Mineral County

Mineral County secures contract to build two and a half miles of the Taft Sildix road to join Lookout Pass with Shoshone County. Work to begin June 1 and finish in July with $21466 total cost shared 53 percent by the state and 47 percent by the county. Subcontracts planned for bridge work and rock removal. county crews to complete remaining tasks.

Rossi denial halts claims on St Lawrence merger

Herman J. Rossi released a statement from Wallace Idaho May 23 1928 denying that the Richmond Mining Milling and Reduction company would absorb the St Lawrence Copper Mining company or transfer 8000 to 4000 feet of the Richmond St Lawrence vein. He says he controls a one half interest in the St Lawrence lode and two thirds in Silver Lake lode and will not transfer rights for shares or any merger.

Tarbox Mining directors act on engineer Stanley R. Moore recommendations and immediately restart development of the Tarbox vein west of the shaft with favorable ore indications. Work will also begin on the big south vein as part of the revived program.

Ore shoot four feet thick found at Oreano vein

The Oreano Mining Company reports striking a four foot thick ore shoot in the Sherman vein near the Oreano ground. Drilling extended the crosscut to reveal ore from surface about 600 feet deep, with clean galena of good milling grade and potential continuation as drifting resumes. JH Peterson of Wallace leads the company with Chas Foreman as chief engineer overseeing operations.

Volunteers sought to shovel snow next Sunday

An effort to open the Yellowstone trail on the Ida ho Montana summit is planned for next Sunday. Volunteers are urged to register with S G Garrett at the Auto Supply company. The crew will depart Wallace around 6 o clock. Lunch will be prepared by William Fahle and served by the Business Women's association. Mineral county residents will work on the Montana side. If snow is not cleared, the road may stay closed for a month.

Lancaster Returns to Grants Pass Copper-Gold Work

Henry M. Lancaster and Mrs Lancaster, longtime residents of this city and noted mining engineer, have been visiting the Samuels. He is now based in Grants Pass Oregon, pursuing copper gold shipments from a high grade ore deposit.
