A C Bixby of AyX Mining says development shifted from drifting east to sinking on the vein at the shaft level. Ore is continuous for 580 feet with 180 feet commercial, a station is cut and a foot of good ore is found. The crew expects the shoot to thicken with depth and contemplates a deep tunnel for a permanent mine outlet.

Chicago Boston ore shoot 200 feet long on 200 foot level

The Chicago-Boston cave on the 200 foot level is cleaned and ready for development. The 200 foot level ore shoot averages 10 feet wide at the cross cut, with 10.7 percent lead and 7.8 ounces silver. no zinc detected. Samples from the full length average 4.14 percent lead and 2.9 ounces silver. Drifting will continue. four carloads will be milled for test. The crosscut to the south meets Kin Buck vein, suggesting a rich strike. John A. Percival holds bond control and plans full development. Twenty men employed, with more to come.

Carbonate Hill Vein Drifts On Four Hundred Level

Drifts will be run on the 400 level at Meho Carbonate Hill to map the ore shoot extending over 100 feet in length and 5 to 6 feet wide. Crews will drift east and west then sink deeper toward 800 feet as a diamond drill previously found ore to 500 feet. W D Greenough leads the venture, seen as a major district test.

J W Evans vice president of the Washington Mining company and major stockholder says work should restart by mid June. The current assessment funds the operation and snow won’t delay supply intake. Crosscut near the vein will be extended to about 400 feet depth. The Washington group lies about two miles from Burke at Granite Creek head.

Valentine Mining Work to Start After Snow Melt

A. L. Thurston of Debermia Montana, manager of the Valentine Mining company, said work will begin as soon as snow disappears, likely about a month. A creascut will be driven from the main tunnel to the vein, where a shaft shows ore and promising prospects. The Valentine group lies beside the Rock Island claims, with activity planned once conditions permit.

Lease Arranged for Flume and Ground at Success Mill

A recent lease between Success Mining Co and FS Hobson with W J Hughes grants rights to nine the concentrates from the Success flume and under the mill. They may use two concentrating tables to reduce material to shipping product. The flume drains a long-accumulated tail water, with the ground near the mill described as promising after years of prospecting. The agreement provides a royalty to the company, recalling earlier profit from the Standard flume of the Federal Co in a similar nearby operation.

High Grade Shipments by Monarch Leasers

Meeting of Good Roads Association boosted by free aid

Shoshone County Good Roads Association continues to offer free roadside assistance to motorists along the Yellowstone trail within the county. Since inception five years ago the program has cost about $75 and attracts riders as a powerful advertisement for the Missoula Spokane corridor. The group plans a membership drive, new windshield cards for car owners, and signed leadership from M. H. Sullivan, A. P. Hutton, and others. The association also promotes the Coeur d'Alene to Spokane route with a Missoula signboard and repainting by Walter J. Sullivan.
