Washington Mining plans July resume of development
Washington Mining Company vice president W Evans says development will resume in July after a recent property inspection by mining engineer R S Merriam. A crosscut extends about 270 feet and is projected to reach the vein in roughly 50 feet more at a depth near 350 feet. With a worn compressor and jackhammer, work will proceed by hand for the remaining 50 feet, and a new cut may begin downstream to reach 1900 feet depth, where a permanent compressor plant could be installed. The mine lies above Burke at Granite Creek head.
