Delegates Nominated to County Convention in Wallace

The Republican county convention nominates delegates and committeemen across Wallace districts led by Murray Preomer and officials such as Adam Aulbach H. W. Spinsby J. C. Wood and Chester Te Harwood. A Lewiston meeting in November will finalize details after a banquet for about 200 delegates and talks on taxes and county resources.

Sunshine Merriam Leads Yankee Boy Copper Mill

Sunshine R S Merriam mining engineer and Yankee Boy mine manager reports Sunshine Mining Co operations at Yankee Boy on Big Creek. The 50 ton mill ran full on silver rich gray copper ore while a crusher was repaired by Coeur d Alene Hardware & Foundry. Mill resumed Friday as new ore shows promise.

North Idaho Chamber Discusses Reform and Mine Tours

A North Idaho Chamber of Commerce gathering included round table talks on boosting usefulness of the chamber. Delegates toured the Morning mine at Mullan and the Hecla and Hercules at Burke, then reconvened to plan reorganization and review committee resolutions with page 6 reporting resolutions.

Valentine Mining to resume work near Deborgia Mont

The Valentine Mining company announces plans to resume development on its Deborgia near Deborgia Montana property. Following the death of former manager A L Thurston, the board reorganized with Gust Palm as director, Thomas McCabe as vice president, and Wm Blom as manager. Funding constraints led to a temporary shutdown after a 204 foot main tunnel and 103 foot vein drift, with ore showing gradual improvement and a planned 200 more feet to reach the probable main ore body. An assessment levied two mills per share to fund continued work.

Callahan Visits Spokane Mining Interests Leader in Spokane Mining Circle

John Callahan of Nine Mile Falls Washington arrived in the city last Saturday and is staying at the Ryan hotel for a week or more to oversee mining interests. He was an original locator and owner of the Callahan mine and now holds large stakes in Benton Mining Company near Burke Gorge gulch and Idaho and Los Angeles Mining and Milling Company with claims adjoining Callahan. He owns a farm near Nine Mile Falls and has improved health in recent months after years of poor health, having come to Coeur d'Alenes in 1884 and remained tied to the mining industry.

Four Timbers Annual Meeting Set for June 24

A circular from Geo A Chapman president and F Bland secretary to Four Timbers Mining stockholders says the annual meeting will be in the Barnard building, Wallace on June 24. The letter outlines company operations and suggests discussion of resuming development at the meeting.

Square Deal Mining plans financing and development

W L Stirling of Walla Walla one of Square Deal Mining’s large stockholders visited with F W Reed Coeur d Alene secretary H BE Howes and John H Nordquist mining engineer representing the late John H Smith estate. Nordquist noted a cave near the portal dammed Water hindering entry. Conference agreed to levy a small assessment for development work and seek option on control to attract terms. The Square Deal lies on the north bank between Wallace and Mullan.

Board of Trade approves Fourth of July Yellowstone Trail plan

The weekly board of trade luncheon reported $265 collected to fund Yellowstone Trail association dues and police costs for the tourist camp. The total goal is $366 with more funds promised. A coordinating committee for the Fourth of July celebration was named including Herman Rossi, E. F. Brewer, J. J. Murphy, H. J. Hult, T. Strachan and Harry C. McAllister. The celebration fund target was set at $1500.

Sidney Leasers Eye Control Deal At Sidney Mining Co

Kel logs indicate Le W. Gay and sons gave to Fred W. Calloway represented parties an option for purchasing control of the Sidney Mining company. No deal details are available. Leasers with upper workings push shipments, two carloads of lead-silver ore sent to Bunker Hill smelter, lead 35–45 percent and silver 25–35 ounces. Ore delivered by motor trucks.

Northwest Crosscut Extension At Independence Mine

Harry W. Ingalls reports the Independence Lead Mines crosscut from No 3 tunnel extending northwest about 80 feet toward the ore body under No 2. Indications suggest imminent entry into the ore. Kingsbury, president, discharged from hospital for Spokane trip, then readmitted after mother’s illness. Great Northwestern Mining Company forms with $250000 capital, 2,500,000 shares, to develop the Western Union Iron Blossom claims in Idaho. Iron Blossom Mining organized for Slaughterhouse gulch near Wardner on Caledonia vein. Hecka Mining secretary J E Hanley departed for Denver and Colorado trips.

Lead and zinc prices rise as demand outpaces supply

The Engineering and Mining Journal notes continued price gains in the metals market for the week ending June 7. Lead prices advance with strong demand and scarce supply, while zinc demand improves amid production limits. Also included is a land timber sale notice from the State of Idaho with bidding terms and conditions.

State Timber Sale terms require bids for total units only. Twenty percent cash on day of sale with balance in four annual installments at six percent interest, payable in advance. Before cutting, thirty days written notice to the State Land Commissioner identifying the land sub divisions. purchaser must pay full unpaid amount by notice expiration. Purchaser has five years to remove timber. All remaining timber on the ground at the end of the period is subject to conditions.
