Electric Power Dredging In Far North Reveals Yukon Plants
Allen E. Ransom of Westinghouse details early electric dredging schemes on the Yukon and Klondike. Yukon Gold, Canadian Klondike, Bear Creek, and North Western Power built hydro electric plants supplying multiple dredges, with large outputs and long transmission lines. New York to Nome Flight Aids Geological Survey Work
The War Department promotes an air reconnaissance flight from New York City to Nome Alaska to support the Geological Survey. It would photograph 3 500 square miles north of the 66th parallel between Fort Ham and Circle including the upper Yukon flat. Ground surveys would cost over 10 000 and take three seasons. air photos could cover the area in about ten hours for roughly 1500. The data would be more accurate than yearlong ground methods.
