Gray copper shoot feature of Hecla mine described

An ore shoot of gray copper or tetrahedrite near the 600 level at Hecla mine may add to its reserves. The six inch thick streak has proven continuous for about 25 feet with samples averaging 1 percent lead and 16 percent copper and 95 to 800 ounces per ton silver. If the shoot extends, several tons may be shipped. Preparation continues for the Star crosscut via the Hecla shaft, with a bin and a large skip pocket under construction to handle waste rock and ore for steady hoisting.

Capital Stock Tax Returns Due By July 31

The Commissioner of Internal Revenue in Washington warns that capital stock tax returns for the 1921–22 year must be filed with the local collector by July 31 to avoid penalties. Domestic firms owe $1 per $1000 of taxable stock in excess of $5000. foreign corporations pay $1 per $1000 of capital employed in U.S. business, with no $5000 deduction.

New Hope Prepares To Resume Development At Two Mile

New Hope Mining plans to resume development near Osburn after two years of inaction due to high costs. The Coeur d Alene commercial club heard that the Mullan tree in Fourth of July canyon is too diseased to save. Lead Rich Drift at Cedar Creek Deepens Lead Zinc Trend

Cedar Creek Mining and Development director William Schwabe reports ore from the drift east of the main crosscut shows rising lead content and zinc decline. The face drift runs about 20 inches wide. lower levels reveal lead, with a zinc-heavy zone back 150 feet. A crosscut to the hanging wall will gauge ore width as lead dominance grows.

Hugh Callahan, brother of John Donald and the late James F. Callahan, is back in the district now located along the Rio Grande in Texas. Once part owner of the Black Jack group with James F. Callahan, he sold a half interest to BR. Day for 50 000 after the Black Jack property became valuable through consolidation with Interstate. He is presently developing land near Brownville, Texas.

Pattison and party visit city on mining business

Everett Pattison of Long Beach, California, a principal in several mining firms, is in the city on business. A longtime mining engineer and promoter, he now manages the Markwell brothers property interests at Long Beach. Mrs Pattison joined him as far as Portland.

Wayside Fountain on Yellowstone Trail Brings Welcome Aid

County commissioners placed a roadside fountain two miles east of Mullan to serve travelers, animals, and automobiles. A mountain stream feeds a four foot diameter concrete basin, with a tall feed pipe and a deep pool for horses and hot vehicles. The fountain sits in a niche on the hill, shielded by concrete wings, with vines expected to enhance its inviting, useful roadside appeal.
