New Hope to Drill Deep Crosscut in Winter

Eugene Thomas of New Hope Mining reports progress on a deep crosscut at the New Hope vein group in Two Mile canyon near Osburn. The first vein should be reached in about 260 feet, with drifting planned to access the other two veins. Weather delays eased, ore shipments continue, and the lead and zinc markets show favorable demand despite tariff duties. Outlook for Coeur d'Alenes mining remains strong with expected development and steady profits through 1928.

The Imperial Mining company reports a dramatic water inflow after drilling 160 feet in a crosscut, shooting back 75 feet and depositing brown manganese on the tunnel floor.
