Snow Sampling to Estimate Mountain Water Runoff

Washington Water Power plans a two to three year program to measure snow water content in the mountains feeding Coeur d Alene Lake. Engineer John Fiaken will select observation courses near Sunset North Fork South Fork St Joe and St Maries with a Milwaukee tunnel weather station. Snow cores will be collected every 40 50 feet along half mile long transects to assess summer water availability for hydroelectric needs.

Brady Development indicates the vein will run considerably deeper than earlier estimates. A new drilling machine was moved to the property early this week after the old one failed following a 1200 foot run in very hard rock with water content above normal for the year. Hoover visits Hailey as Federal Mine Accountant Travels

A W Hoover head of the accounting dept of Federal Mining and Smelting returned from Independence mine near Hailey. The firm's main office is Wallace with reports consolidated there for New York. Independence is the only operating mine in the Hailey district with 75 to 100 workers and a new mill near North Star soon to operate. Ore is lead-silver with about 100 ounces of silver per crude ore, and ore is hauled by motor trucks from three miles from the railroad.

Mining Plan on Hedrock Creek Near Eagle for Winter Work

Keefer of Carbonite announces Spokane capital interest in Hedrock Creek property about a mile from Eagle on East Eagle Creek. Silver Lead Vein Strike Spurs Eagle Creek Prospecting

United States Silver Lead Mining confirms a drift on a lead and silver vein near Eagle creek. Holes show 7 ft of ore rich in lead silver, with shipping grade ore near the footwall. North Star Mining Awards Crowncut Contract

J L Brainard secretary of Old Veteran Mining describes a drift extending about 15 feet east from the crosscut revealing heat exposure. Further drilling will explore grounds under the best showings in the upper tunnel but no additional work will be done now. Remaining assessment focuses on a mineralized quartz stringer back in the main tunnel.
