Ballots for October 30 special election in Wakefield Michigan have been approved by the city attorney and placed with the city clerk. Three ballots will be used one for general charter revision yes or no an advisory vote on form of government and a third listing 19 charter candidates with nine to be chosen.
Wet conditions slow Wakefield area road work with tar on hand for deck pours between Ramsay and Wakefield. Uncertain if final sections around Sunday Lake Street will finish this fall due to the past week of adverse weather.
The plastering work for the First National Bank building was awarded to the O. Peterson Co of Minneapolis. The firm already holds the contract for plastering the Ninth District Federal Reserve Bank building. The Commercial Club will meet Monday at 6 30 PM at the Community Building with Louis Cohen in charge of the program, expected to present a standout offering.
The proposal asks whether the city government should revise the charter by the charter commission. If defeated, no election of charter commissioners occurs and the advisory result does not change city government. Wakefield will keep its current charter.

Contractors this week completed the installation of a new front at the Skud and Goldman Co store in Wakefield. New windows create the darkest window display room in the city and reflect the firm’s faith in the store’s future. Louis Cohen, the store’s manager and a renowned Northwest window decorator, awaits how he handles the large space. Delays pushed interior work to next year due to late season.
Several crews of Cornish wing were put to work this week at the Morgan mine east of Wakefield from the Painesdale copper country. The ore near the shaft will be stocked and shipped by rail to Ashland then by boat to Milwaukee. Fire threatened power lines Monday night but local fire department and open pit crews saved the Plymouth Mining Co. poles and buildings. Plans to reopen Planter Mill by Black River Lumber Co led by Henry DeFer. Gratitude expressed to friends after illness and death of Dominic Bugni.

Colonel White argues the method saves money, frees officers for relief work, reduces fraud, and ensures proper accounting while detailing local leadership and fundraising actions for a 1922 24 drive.
The city commission, at its Thursday meeting, approved relocating the kindergarten grade from the high school to the city hall auditorium to relieve congestion. About 400 pupils supervised by Miss Marie Conway will transfer, with seating and equipment installed immediately, possibly ready by late next week or the following. Inspections of nearby Spur and Tom schools will occur next week as they near completion to accommodate district children with no current school space.
Odd Fellows members are requested to attend initiatory work to be held Thursday evening October 25 at the top of hall. Members of the Rebeccs bod es are invited to attend. The degree work will start promptly at 7:30 o clock p m. Visiting members are cordially invited to attend.
A city facility transferred a bear from a temporary cage to a steel den behind City Hall this week. The bear and its companions acclimate quickly, delighting local onlookers who have often watched the animals’ curious antics.
Appreciation is expressed to those who attended the slip event on Wednesday evening and to donors unable to attend. More than 120 dollars was raised for the church parsonage building fund.
