Wakefield Iron Co and Plymouth mine begin iron ore shipments to Ashland docks this week. First boat of the season expected Monday with large tonnages. Wakefield Iron to ship over 600000 tons and Plymouth at least 800000 tons. Sun Day Lake and Morgan mines also active. wage increases for all mine labor to take effect May 1 with about ten percent for common labor.

County road work starts next week in two projects

City Plans Summer Street Work In Wakefield
Wakefield allocates about 15000 for sidewalk, street and sewer improvements this summer. Work includes 4000 feet of sidewalks and 50 feet of sewer on Olson and Abola avenues, plus grading on Ashland and Anderson avenues. Legislature Backs Pre Primary Convention Defeat In House
A proposed optional pre primary convention bill failed 39 to 50 in the legislature, needing 51 votes. Woman's Club to Stage Breezy Point Comedy Next Thursday
The Wakefield Woman's Club will present the three act comedy Breezy Point at the Community Theatre next Thursday at eight. Tickets are 50 cents and on sale through club members. The cast lists many clubwomen in roles from Aunt Debby to Laura Leigh with Edythe Peterson and Amy Ericson among the performers. The club also promotes a Sunday drive for Armenian orphans and a separate court suit facing the Wakefield Defense League over a $6,000 fund.
