Graduation week announced for Wakefield High School
Wakefield High School outlines a full commencement week beginning with a Sunday baccalaureate at the Community Theatre. Reverend Father Szygula will preach on Religion and Culture, with additional music by the Woman's sextette and soloists. Maynard Lee Daggy will deliver the principal address at commencement. Farmers Picnic Draws 500 in Gogebic County Next Friday
More than 500 residents from Gogebic County rural districts are expected at the farmers picnic and farm tour at the fair grounds next Friday. County Agent E Gunderson notes the June 22 event will feature farm visits, dairy barns, silos, orchards, and a dairy judging demonstration. Automobiles will be arranged for those without transport. picnic lunches, songs, and speeches are on the program from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Wakefield Plans July 4 Celebration By American Legion
Wakefield will host a July 4 celebration with parade sports and a fireworks display planned by the American Legion. Band concerts public dancing and free attractions are mentioned including balloon ascensions and triple parachute drops. The America Legion presents a five day carnival starting Tuesday June 19 to Saturday June 28 on vacant lots north of the railroad station. The Great Middle West Shows arrive with rides, aerial acts, a sea plane, palace of wonders, Ha Ha show, athletic arena, Hawaiian village and free grounds. Prizes include a $125 diamond ring, a $45 wrist watch and a $380 pearl necklace. voting for the top prize runs through June 28.
