Congressman's playful takedown targets the so called sob artists in the House during discussion of the Selective Draft Bill. He ridicules display of melodrama by lawmakers who lament the draft yet back its passage and urges a practical plan to raise an army.
At Ann Arbor May 1 the Michigan club of the state university elected officers for the next year. President Charles E. Anderson, vice president J E Somppi, secretary Oliver Ringsmuth, treasurer George Kronberg, corresponding secretary H E Johnson, sergeant at arms E C Toomy. Plans were made for two dances in Ironwood this summer and fall. Hallmark store promotion noted.

It cites a rhyme about heaven and hell, urging enlistment while mocking pacifist sentiment and urging citizens to heed Washington and Sherman. The piece notes a fearsome ideal of victory and questions the idea of winning without military force.
The Commercial Club solved the seed potato question in a businesslike way delivering six hundred bushels at three dollars per bushel including freight and commission. The Board of Education weighed seed with Mr Kingsmuth's scale while residents were notified of costs and distribution through schools.
