Michigan club at University elects officers in May meeting

At Ann Arbor May 1 the Michigan club of the state university elected officers for the next year. President Charles E. Anderson, vice president J E Somppi, secretary Oliver Ringsmuth, treasurer George Kronberg, corresponding secretary H E Johnson, sergeant at arms E C Toomy. Plans were made for two dances in Ironwood this summer and fall. Hallmark store promotion noted.

War of 1917 Verse Echoes Chiefs To Volunteer Call

A Kansas City Times excerpt from May 11 1917 frames World War I rallying, contrasting calls to action. Seed potato plan brings low Wakefield cost supply

The Commercial Club solved the seed potato question in a businesslike way delivering six hundred bushels at three dollars per bushel including freight and commission. The Board of Education weighed seed with Mr Kingsmuth's scale while residents were notified of costs and distribution through schools. Seed was good and planters were satisfied as other communities paid twenty five to fifty cents more. Get your Sunday chicken dinner at the Wakefield Hotel. 50 cents.
