City to draft traffic curb on state highways
The city attorney will draft amendments to the traffic ordinance to prohibit parking on the trunk lines within city limits and along designated highways. Parking will be barred on Sunday Lake street south and toward the Plymouth mine to improve safety with right of way on Sunday Lake street for north south traffic, while Sunday Lake street remains part of M 28. The plan aims to reduce accidents at intersecting streets and clarify driver behavior amid misty nights and dark cars.

Model Mine Exhibition Draws Attention in Wakefield
The exhibit of the Maynes model mine and city is shown in vacant lots near City Hall. Creator Maynes spent 13 years on the project and plans to take it to southern Michigan fairs this fall. The model demonstrates mining below and above ground with modern machinery, including the Mayne loader. Miniature workers, cars, hoists, electric streets, and moving automobiles populate the detailed scene. The display is praised as educational and highly interesting. Three candidates for Wakefield city commissioner emerge: Fred Thompson, William Hornibrook, and Fred Deaken. The Gogebic Range Medical Society met at the Community Building with Dr. A F Ringo of Montreal presenting on rickets. Local residents Mr and Mrs Elias Semplin and Mr and Mrs John Lepisto returned from trips, while John Ketchin, longtime hospital caretaker, suffered a serious paralytic stroke. Thomaston Postoffice to be discontinued
The Thomaston postoffice will be discontinued on July 31 with rural free delivery planned as a possible outcome. After closure, mail to Thomaston, Mich, will be redirected to the postoffice here. The Rev A Haapanen resigns as pastor of the Finnish Evangelical Church Hancock to lead the Finish Lutheran Synod presidency full time. The synod plans require the president to devote full attention to business and church visits, though presiding at pulpit duties besides a permanent pastorate remains possible.
