NO ALLIANCES SAYS HARDING CRITICS ANSWERED
President Harding responded to senate critics of the four power Pacific treaty with two statements, one prepared and one extemporaneous. He asserted no alliance or entanglement is contemplated and challenged claims that U S delegates withheld information, while praising progress toward peace and dialogue over conflict. He said the Japanese homeland is not covered by article 2 and tied the league of nations to peace aims without direct connection to the four power pact.
