Our school bank started six months ago with first eight grade pupils as patrons. Located in the high school commercial room it operates Fridays for one hour. Each pupil keeps personal deposit slips and books, recording weekly handings and receipts. Deposits exceed $1100 this year while withdrawals run under $100, leaving over $1000 credited to the children. Rooms with the most savers win the Best Bankers banner for a week. Citizens Bank of Wakefield pays 3 percent on deposits.
