Breckenridge High Seniors Light Up Grand Theatre

The Breckenridge school paper notes the Senior class impressed the town with their stage presence last Friday at the Grand Theatre. The girls led the performance while the debate team gains momentum under coaches Miss Allensworth, Mr. Thoyse, and Mr. Pfingston as plans for Armory practice and an upcoming Prep class program unfold.

Sicily's Gay Wine Harvest In School Notes

A school page notes various oddities from a class, including exchanges of notes, a student named A Sagaci Senior losing deportment, and a humorous Jacose Juniors. The Shivering Sophomores wore heavy coats at an ice event last Sunday while Mrs Scoville leads a WCTU abstinence task in the assembly room Monday morning. An effort to form a Total Abstinence Society at the school failed.

Science School Notes and Local Activities

Nine new students are registered this winter term, a fifteen percent rise from last year at the science school. Clarence Schaefer of Breckenridge died in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Presidents Smith and Quinn met in Valley City to discuss state institution welfare. The science school remains a strong, early-teenage academy with a growing second band of twelve and the original band at 22. Prof. Staton moved to Buscher Cottage, and King and sister reside at Burch Hall, now with a new door bell. Bessie Laythe Scovell spoke on Temperance and Social Purity, and Willimine Merrick was elected YWCA president. The MCCA held a stag reception. Mr. Miller and Mr. Schuman spoke, while Christmas stamps for foreign countries were discussed by Postmaster Myhra. The M.B.A. elected officers for the coming year including President Keeney, Vice President Nelson, and plans to fill the treasurer post after Mrs. Donaldson’s resignation.

Dedication of the New City Hall in Wahpeton

The Wahpeton dedication evening featured remarks by Mr. Hancock praising city officers and the mayor and building committee, with keys presented to the mayor. May or Eberley spoke on financing troubles and the building’s necessity, while Mr. Schuler recounted Dakota territory history and early settlers. Chas. E. Wolfe lauded the city’s free fire department. Atty. Forbes chaired. Meyers orchestra provided entertainment ending with a coronet solo by A. E. Hendrix, noted as a fine addition.

Delinquent Subscrib ers Raise Trouble for Publishers

The Whirl o the Town musical opens December first

Wahpeton presents a three act musical comedy The Whirl o the Town with a cast of about seventy players. Rehearsals are underway led by composer James W Evens and Mrs Evens. Evens arrives from Fergus Falls after recent success. The show promises wholesome merriment and lively dialog, aiming to be the best home talent production yet.
