Wreck Near Salvia Claims Six Lives and Injuries
A brutal collision of freight trains No. 11 and No. 7 west of Salvia on the Truckee Division killed six men and wounded several others. Engineers Bird and Strong, firemen Morsehead and Givan, conductor LaForge, and brakemen Kerry and Leach were named in the crash. Rescue crews raced to Reno and Wadsworth as the injured were transported for treatment.
