Rev. Frank McGregor accuses Austin State Hospital staff and state leaders after the death of a 17-year-old Waco boy in an unheated 8 by 10 cell last February. He cites exposure to cold and alleged facility neglect as the underlying cause.

In Groesbeck Texas a 40 year old Houston man Guy Franks drowned in the Navasota River. The body was recovered from 15 feet of muddy water. Sheriff Jack Bothwell held one Groesbeck man and searched for another. Justice of the Peace Jim Barfield ruled death accidental.
Fort Hood Sgt Wilbur F. H. Radeline disclosed he has long feigned other names on cards to comfort his epileptic wife Mildred in Quarters 92-D Fort Hood Village. He rejects inheritance and a foreign title to keep citizenship. Her 51st birthday nears on June 21.
West German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer travels to Washington to assure the Atlantic Alliance while Russia invites Bonn to Moscow. He will discuss diplomatic relations with President Eisenhower and the three foreign ministers, with Bonn noting receipt of the Soviet invitation but offering no comment.
Detroit June 11 GM handed the United Auto Workers a new offer to avert a strike by 385 000 workers at midnight Sunday. The proposal comes after a four hour recess called by the union to study terms and mirrors a Ford contract reached last week featuring a guaranteed semiannual wage rise a yearly wage increase and improved pensions and insurance.
Hollywood star Walter Hampden died at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital at age 75 after suffering a stroke. The renowned actor appeared on stage screen and television, leaving a legacy across multiple media.
Jim Pittillo 85 died Saturday at his home 1610 Herring Avenue. A longtime Waco resident, he held roles from newsboy to editor and public official, and wrote the Farm and Labor Journal. Funeral 4 p.m. Monday at Herring Avenue Methodist Church with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Survivors include widow Iola Pittillo, two sons, one daughter, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Washington reports Operation Alert 1955 will move President Eisenhower and 15000 officials to secret shelters. The drill plans emergency government 30 to 300 miles away in a nationwide mock nuclear attack across all coasts and territories. Forty nine of 92 target cities will participate in the test.
Maj. Gen. K. L. Berry and other officers reviewed the 112th Armored Cavalry Regiment Texas National Guard in its annual parade at North Fort Hood. The unit, with 1,685 personnel, is conducting a two week camp under Col. Frederick H. Weston, with troops from San Antonio Rio Grande Valley and West Texas. camp ends June 19.
