Memorial Day Observed in Waco by Veterans and Labor Leaders
Memorial Day services were held Thursday in Waco at Stuceville and Rosemound cemeteries. Judge Frank G. McDonald delivered the eulogy at the Veterans plot. Organizers included Vulture 1037 40 & 8 with Doug Sontagg presiding and Martin W. Harmel as general chairman. A 21 gun salute was fired by a squad from Connally Base. The Central Labor Council honored the late Martin Irons with readings by E C. Lowe. Master of ceremonies was George Vowell with benediction by Rev. C. H. Feeler. Participating groups included American Legion posts, VFW, DAV, Jewish War Veterans, and Gold Star Mothers. County farm bureau directors meet June 3 at 8:00 p.m. with J. D. Jordan attending and requests for help.
