Weather-Crop Bulletin Des Moines Iowa Weekly Report
The week was cooler than usual with normal sunshine and light scattered showers. Daily temperature averaged about 2 degrees below normal, making it favorable for outdoor work such as threshing, harvesting aftermath, prairie hay, and fall plowing. Nights were mild, days warm enough to ripen corn slightly but slower due to delayed conditions. Rainfall deficiency favors corn but more moisture is needed in many areas. Potatoes are fair and gardens productive.
