Fort Marion and Florida's Storied Past Unearthed
The article surveys Fort Marion built from 1685 to 1740, its grim legends and coquina walls, Pensacola and New Smyrna ruins, and early Florida history under Spain and Britain. It notes Navarez De Soto and Ponce de León expeditions, the Indian conflicts, and Florida's rise after US statehood with Spain’s former sway finally ending. It ends with a call to opportunity and a closing remark THE END.
