Make the Battery Go to Bat by Erwin Greer

Learn to read the hydrometer to test the battery properly. Use a celluloid hydrometer. readings from 1.276 to 1.300 indicate proper charging. If 1.200 appears, reduce starter use or lights. If generator output is insufficient, consult an electrical expert. Keep terminals tight and covered with cup grease, inspect insulation, avoid short circuits, and maintain clean thumb nuts and wires.
