Emmet County Republicans met in the court house on June 28 1924 to elect delegates to State and Judicial conventions and adopt resolutions endorsing the national and state Republican tickets Indicated leaders included M L Soeth Dr Knipe George Allen and Mrs Nellie Robb Committees from each precinct were chosen to select delegates with a list of nominees to be approved by the convention Delegates to the State Convention included E G Sando J B Willey and others with another slate chosen for the radical convention Resolutions endorsed the national administration supported Coolidge and Dawes favored child labor amendment banking deposit guarantees support for the Great Lakes Waterway and agricultural policy priorities

Arners Union Picnic and Events at Estherville July Fourth
Activities at the Estherville Armers Union picnic include a band concert at 9:30 am, foot races with varied prizes, contests from corn guessing to laughing contests, a noon picnic dinner, multiple band performances, readings of the Declaration of Independence, addresses by local figures, and a Bowery dance in the evening. A wrestling match Parcaut vs Myers is scheduled in Spencer for July third with $1000 purses. A note announces removal of the long distance tax on calls costing fifteen cents or more starting July third under a new law.

Knights Templar Dedication at Webster Gateway in Iowa
The Webster gateway at Templar Park near Waucoma was presented to the Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Iowa by Ace Webster. A June 25 dedication drew many Knights Templar and Grotto members with music, dancing, and entertainment. Officers were elected the next day including George Sinclair as Grand Commander and Carl Reed as Grand Captain General. The event featured "The Templar Thrill" song by W. A. Morehouse and a Thursday ladies’ burlesque entertainment. Weather hindered some parades, but overall attendance and festivities matched last year’s high turnout.

Estherville Chautauqua opens Sunday July 6 with a concert. Director and Mrs Fred D Cram host Summer School staff and families at their home. About 125 students took second grade certificates and fifty first grade. exams cover Emmet and nearby counties with others represented from Minnesota.

Estherville to Host All Nations and Esther Ville Teams
The Estherville ball team made of home boys will meet the All Nations team in the old ball park southwest of the Rock Island depot Thursday at 5 30 PM. Estherville has not been defeated under current management and a strong turnout is urged for support. On July 4 Estherville plays two games at Lost Island lake and on July 19 Chicago Giants face All Nations in Estherville at 3 PM. The two teams are said to be evenly matched and always produce a hot game.

Wind Storm Sweeps Iowa Saturday Morning
A severe windstorm swept across Iowa early Saturday morning, reaching tornado strength in Des Moines but causing no loss of life. Des Moines reported major damage while Estherville and nearby areas saw downed trees and some telephone outages. The storm began around one o'clock in the night, with thunder lightning and heavy rain.
