Leg Breaks From Post Load Accident In Emmet Township

Mr 3 Kortum of Emmet township fell from a load of posts Saturday breaking a bone in his left leg above the knee. Doctors Birney and Bradley reduced the fracture and report he will likely recover. At Rev. T E B S Lapham’s home on Dec 6, Frank P Wright of Ottumwa Iowa and Olive I Sickles of Sioux Rapids were wed. Wright recently returned from a three year U S Army term at Mt Flagler Washington. the bride is Lap ham’s sister and a Sioux Rapids teacher in her youth.

Bank Robbery Strikes Rothsay Bank in Minnesota

A private Rothsay Bank in Fergus Falls Minnesota was robbed last night of 8700 dollars. Burglars used nitroglycerin to blow open the safe and vault after entering via Dr Serklund’s office. They left no clue, only pennies remained. Early today Scandia bank reps traveled by auto with cash to resume Rothsay business.

Eb A Plummer of Forest City buys twenty five thousand dollars in Panama 8 per cent bonds. Henry F Warner and Jess Reber report a corn husking average of ninety bushels with a final day total of one hundred five. Eastern Emmet County notes show there is some good corn in the area.

Small Pox Scare Denied In Town

Town officials debunk rumors of a quarantine and hundreds of cases. Fourteen families are under quarantine with a few mild illnesses, most doubtfully smallpox or chickenpox. Doctors report few or no smallpox cases and expect the town to be free of the disease by year’s end. one new case remains under quarantine until confirmed.
