Honest Toil and Wealth in a Shabby Workday
A satirical scene shows various tradesmen arriving for repairs at a rundown shack. The carp entered in style with a state car, the plasterer rode in luxury, the painter traded his horse for a limousine, and the tinsmith praised his coupe while a ditch digger arrived in a powerful wagon. The workers block the street as they discuss capital, wealth, and honest toil, lampooning inequality and the promise of fair labor.

Sixty Million Farm Loans Proposed by Hitchcock
Washington discussion outlines immediate government loans totaling sixty six million dollars to aid farmers facing low prices. The plan, drawn with Governor Harding of the Fed Reserve Board, would use the government’s share in Fed Reserve profits to bolster bank reserves and amortize Liberty bonds. Loans issued on chattels or warehouse receipts with farm products or livestock as security, six months for grain and up to one year for livestock. Senator Hitchcock and Governor Harding favor the plan. Senator Edge opposes relief tied only to farmers.
