Hog marketing year to see smaller sales and higher prices

Farmers will sell fewer hogs in the marketing year which began Oct. 1 than they did a year earlier, according to county agent M. A. Balkema. The pig crop of 1940 was about 10 percent smaller than that of 1939. Since demand for meat is expected to be better in 1941, and since marketings of hogs will be smaller, prices probably will be considerably higher than in 1939.
