Robt. Meisener Takes Artis Partello As Bride

Miss Artis V. Partello daughter of Mr and Mrs D O Bartello of Estherville wed Robert F Misener son of Mr and Mrs A L Misener in a single ring ceremony at the Baptist parsonage Rev J Albert Riggs officiated. The couple will live in the Stanley Larson home while both attended Estherville High School. The groom works at Ridley Dairy. Pauline Hanson Birthday Surprise was held at her home for her eleventh birthday with games and lunch and gifts from friends.

Crescent club hosts humorous afternoon gathering at Hansen home

Mrs Henry Hanson hosts Crescent club members on Friday afternoon with Mrs Chris Juhl directing. Roll call prompts each member to tell a joke. Mrs Florence Tredway Hosts Pre Independence Tea

Mrs Florence Tredway hosted a social afternoon at the Perkins home with friends honoring Miss Ethel McArdle before she departs for Independence. Attendees included Miss McArdle, her mother Mrs Ella McArdle, Mrs E J Schryver and Mrs Warren Pullen. Dr Matilda Andresen of Cresco and Mrs Emma Richardson of Omaha arrived to visit relatives Mrs Phil De Longe and Mrs Belva Ross. Dinner at Gull Point state park featured Miss McArdle and Mrs Lewis as hosts.

Three Entertain at Luncheon Bridge at Gaarde Home

Mrs. H A Gaarde Mrs Del vert Hinsch and Miss Emma Gaarde hosted a Yelock luncheon at 215 South Ninth Street. Ten small tables were set with garden flowers and bridge followed the meal. Miss Fae Yates of Evanston arrived Friday for a vacation visit with her parents Art and Mrs Yates and relatives.

Emmet County Board Elevates Taxes and Approves Contracts

The Emmet County Iowa board met August 15 1939 to set 1940 tax levies across funds including General Fund 355000 Court Expense 17684 Poor Fund 50000 and others. It also approved bands for Marle Sorum and C P Lechner and extended the Tax Service Co contract to December 31 1940 with anticipated adjournment to September 1 1939.
