Newlyweds Honored by Friends shower Tuesday Evening

Mr and Mrs Eugene Peterson who wed August 12 were honored at a city hall shower by fifty eight friends and relatives. Gifts wheeled in a baby carriage as Mrs Ernest Smith played. Refreshments followed. Numerous Forest City and area residents attended or sent gifts.

4-H Girls To Exhibit Canning at State Fair

Sixty six jars in twenty four entries will be sent by Emmet county 4-H girls to the state fair. The exhibit comprises best jars from the Achievement Show held in city hall last week. List includes beef peaches beans spinach chicken carrots raspberries rhubarb and more with multiple jars per class and several two and three jar foundations for meals, soups, vegetables and meats.

Studebaker Reports Increased Sales In July

STUDEBAKER REPORTS INCREASED SALES South Bend Ind July sales of The Studebaker Corporation were the largest for any July since 1929 Paul G Hoffman president announced today Factory sales of 6423 units last month were an increase of 85 8 per cent over July 1938 Factory sales for the first seven months of the year amounted to 59599 passenger cars and trucks compared with 29984 in the corresponding period last year and with 652605 units sold in all of 1938 Retail deliveries in the United States in July amounted to 7910 compared with 3187 in the same month last year For the first seven months of the year retail deliveries of 45909 compared with sake for the parallel months of 1938
