Grand Hedy Lamarr finds priceless ring in egg on set
Hedy Lamarr, starring with Robert Taylor in Lady of the Tropics at the Grand Theatre, cracks an egg during rehearsal and a platinum ring with a 20 carat sapphire and many diamonds falls into the skillet. The ring, a gift from her husband Gene Markey, had been hidden in the egg by film crew. A carnival diver with 29 years of dives retires amid concerns over nerves and the stock market mood.

Petersburg Minnesota suffered a major blaze on the Thomas Ambrose farm Sunday night destroying a corn crib holding 1500 bushels of corn and 1600 bushels of barley, the barn, two horses, three calves and other property. Thomas Ambrose carried insurance on the buildings and his grain, while his son Frank, who lives on the place, had no coverage. This marks the third fire within thirteen miles in recent weeks, following a Nasby farm barn blaze two weeks earlier and a Bellows farm fire near Loon Lake due to spontaneous combustion.
