Hog Ration Options From Oats Rye and Barley Feed

Abundant oats and small grains spark interest in hog feeding. Quaife notes a balanced ration of one third oats one third rye and one third barley ground fine plus 8 pounds tankage per 100 pounds of grain yields good gains. An all oats mix with tankage, fed dry or as slop, also performs well though bulky for fast gains unless oats are hulled. A market price estimate places the oats ration at about $25 per ton. The Iowa crop reports project 1937 corn and oats yields with conditions improving, while rust damages affect barley and wheat, and overall hay and pasture conditions are discussed with regional variations.
