Navy Petty Officer Deidre A. Fleischer of Placerville has been promoted aboard the USS Harry S. Truman homeported in Norfolk Virginia for sustained superior performance. A 2009 Oak Ridge High School graduate, she joined the Navy in July 2010. Meanwhile Army ROTC cadet William K. Tostenson has completed airborne training at Fort Benning Georgia as part of his path to a second lieutenant commission. Tostenson is a 2011 Oak Ridge High School graduate.
Shiva Frentzen won the Sept 9 special election for District 2, with 2,617 votes, more than 1,000 ahead of runner up George Turnboo. Turnboo led in Placerville Pollock Pines and South County areas, while Frentzen carried El Dorado Hills Cameron Park and Shingle Springs. Only 37.54 percent voter turnout noted as typical for specials.
The El Dorado Hills Community Services District partners with the El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce to host Summer Send-Off Saturday Night in the Park from 5 to 9 p.m. on September 20. The last 2014 Community Park concert features Cover Me Badd as the main act with free beer and wine tastings from local vendors and booths for numerous local businesses and organizations.
El Dorado County Planning Commission rejected a 250 unit luxury project in Town Center while mixed votes on revisions surfaced. A.G. Spanos seeks to raise density from 24 to 55 du/ac and rezone to RM PD, with updates to Town Center East standards and a 53 foot height debate. A 436 car parking structure is planned, and staff say the project would boost local revenue in ten years.
About 200 residents attended the unveiling of the El Dorado Hills Community Services District pavilion renovation. The project, led by longtime board members, emphasized energy efficiency accessibility sound lighting and a Gold Country Lodge color scheme. The capital improvement cost 80430 was funded from the General Fund.
