Madison Richetts, a fourth grader from Madison Elementary, qualified through local, county, and state hoops to reach the Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot Nationals in Sextonheld Massachusetts April 16 to 19. She earned top marks in Las Vegas shootoffs, even winning a tie break, and has roots as a soccer and cross country athlete with a passion for basketball.
Greg Scott Ashman, 26, of El Dorado Hills, was arrested in Reno on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a shooting outside Powerhouse Pub on Sutter Street in Folsom. The victim, a 30-year-old man, was critically injured and transported to a hospital. Police say witnesses indicated an argument preceded the shooting.
El Dorado Community Foundation drives the second Give Where You Live statewide giving day on April 23 with about 70 participating nonprofits. The El Dorado County Office of Education again partners to design nonprofit pages and the foundation site eldoradocs.org will host live donation totals.
