Tragedy on North-bound Train Near Richwood

Mr Seaborn Jones a convict guard from Richwood and companions rode the shoo fly to Cordele and back on Saturday night. Near Richwood the porter called the name and Jones, thinking the train would not stop, jumped from the car and fell about two hundred yards below the station dying instantly. Coroner Graham held an inquest Sunday. Jones, raised near Wippettville, was a fine young man and suffered bruises in the incident.

Back From Texas Sumerford Family Faces Return

Mr Alonzo Sumerford of Henderson Texas returned last week following his father's death. He moved to Texas last fall with his family but crops failed and they may come back this fall. Manager Sumerford might not return, pending family plans.

Houston Association session praised as best yet in region

The Houston Association comprising thirty to thirty five Baptist churches in Dooly Worth Pulaski and Irwin counties held a highly pleasant and profitable meeting. Ashburn and Fitzgerald joined. ministers from Georgia attended. Reports showed progress across missions education temperance finance literature and Sunday schools. Various sermons were delivered and attendees praised the cordial reception. The next session is set for Arabi. DeWitts Witch Hazel Salve advertised for eczema and skin troubles.

Death of Mrs. Joe Bivins in this city

Mrs. Jos. B. Bivins died at her home Thursday morning about 9 o'clock after over a week of serious illness. Funeral from the house at 4 PM, remains to be interred in the city. The bereaved husband, Mr. Bivins, has the sympathy of many friends. Also notes that three new justices are proposed for the Supreme Court bench by the next legislature and urges Capt. John H. Martin of Hawkinsville for the position.
