Association at Cordele A Pleasant Profitable Housten Session
The Vienna Progress reports the Houstein Association meeting at Cordele described as very pleasant and profitable. Rev J J Hyman was elected Moderator and S P Colmas Clerk by acclamation. Churches contributed over 1600 to missions, Hawkinsville alone giving over 1000. Dr J G Gibson preached the opening sermon and spoke on missions. Cordele hosted well with homes for all attendees. A 50 donation aided Brunswick yellow fever sufferers. The two day session closed with satisfaction.

Bible gift from Arabi church to beloved pastor
About twenty little girls from the Arabi Baptist church presented Reverend J. J. Hyman with a handsome Bible during a prayer service. Diss Wilna George spoke for the “Willing Workers” and thanked all who helped obtain the gift, urging its use to guide the church and its youth.

Wreck of Georgia Southern train near Dakota
Northbound Georgia Southern Railroad passenger train derailed on Sunday near Dakota. First and second class coaches left the track, while mail and express cars toppled. the engine and tender remained largely intact. Passengers were bruised and shaken, but no serious injuries. Train quickly cleared and passengers were moved to Macon after hours of delay. The accident at mile 82 follows a previous wreck last fall at an orange train site, suspected due to a defective frog on a siding.
