John N Dickson Dead In Typhoid Illness
John N Dickson died at his father Jasper M Dickson's home in Fete after several days of typhoid fever. He taught school in the county and was well liked. He leaves a father, mother, three brothers and three sisters. Interment was Saturday at Collier Cemetery near Drayton. Rev E M Wright officiated. The Progress extends sympathy to the bereaved family.

The community bids farewell to Captain Hiram Williams Sr who died Tuesday at his son Joseph Williams residence three miles west of Cordele. A respected Dooly County leader who served in the legislature and upheld honesty and integrity, he leaves a wife eight sons and three daughters and over fifty descendants. Interment is planned for 10 am at Ebenezer church six miles west of Cordele with Rev Elam Culpepper and Masonic rites. Morning Call, Nov 9.

Tragic Death of Two Children by Fire in Pete
Report from The Progress describes the deaths of Geo Felton's children on Mr. Odom's farm at Pete. A five month old infant and a six year old girl died after a quilt near a cooking pot caught fire while the mother was in the field. The mother returned to find them burned. the infant died quickly and the older child survived about two hours. It is believed a stray spark ignited the quilt.
