New brick depot announced for Vienna on Suwanee River Route

The Georgia Southern and Florida railroad will begin a handsome brick depot on the former site destroyed by fire. The 100 foot long building will feature two large waiting rooms, private ladies and gents rooms, agent and clerk offices, and a full platform with iron roofing. It aims to match Vienna’s size and business volume and is expected to be one of the line’s prettiest and most convenient depots.

Infant son of Dr and Mrs McArthur dies in Unadilla

Master Clifton McArthur, infant son and twin of Dr T J and Mrs McArthur of Unadilla, died last Wednesday after a brief illness. Funeral was held Thursday at Walnut Hill Cemetery at 11 o’clock with Rev J M Kelley of Vienna officiating. The Proaruss extends its deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.

Death in Cordele Claiming Cordele Teacher Mamie Morgan

Miss Mamie Morgan a Cordele public schools teacher died suddenly Saturday afternoon from a stroke of apoplexy after several days illness. She was a Baptist church member. Her remains were taken to Warrenton Saturday evening by bereaved relatives for interment.

Runaway near Dr. Stovall’s building wrecks buggy

A runaway Monday afternoon at Dr. C Stovall’s corner nearly caused a serious accident when a fire dog spooked the horse. The horse bolted the buggy into a post. Mrs Wimberly suffered a slight foot bruise and the buggy was wrecked.

Pinehurst shows steady growth with quick sales and small profits. Howell and Lee run a brisk turpentine business while Massey Lumber Co operates a sizeable mill near town, planning expansions to manufacture long leaf yellow pine. Georgia State Fair premium list ready for distribution

Premiums total fifteen thousand dollars across departments led by Agriculture with a thousand dollars for the best county display and wide prizes for farm products. Livestock, dairy, fat stock, and poultry premiums are noted along with contests for declamation and composition for youth. Reunion invitation to Confederate Veterans of Dooly County

A letter invites Confederate Veterans to the July 4 reunion in Arabi 1999, noting no county line disputes and asking for service verification. Obituary of Maggie Dunn Dunn Near Fuqua 1899

Maggie Dunn nee Castlebury died at her home near Fuqua on April 29 1899 aged 45. Born March 21 1854 she married D L Dunn December 6 1877. A Primitive Baptist member for ten years she was a devoted wife and loving mother who died in the Lord and rests in God’s peace.

Actions include notifying PG McDonald to move one hose and two houses from Burns street within 15 days, accepting John Collier's $140 bid for a Drayton road bridge, exempting town council and board of education members from 1899 street tax, paying SM Altman 75 cents, and ordering street tax defaulters to appear before the mayor to show cause why their mutation tax for 1890 is unpaid.
