Local papers report intense campaign mood as Judge Fort and Senator Lewis court support across counties. Rumors swirl on who will win the 3rd district race with bankers, editors, and voters weighing in on endorsements and public appearances.
The Richland Paper rejects charges from Judge Fort’s followers that the district favors Mr Lewis through subsidies. It states the weekly press in the third district cannot be bought and vows its support is not financially motivated while denouncing such insinuations as low-down lies.
A Pinehurst candidate addresses voters denying rumors of a mere introduction run and asserts full effort for the office of tax collector. He states he aims to be an efficient officer and respectfully seeks public support, claiming no personal quarrel and presenting merit before the electorate.
The Georgia Southern and Florida Railway promotes a Tampa excursion on Monday May 2 with cheaper round trip fares from LaGrange Macon Cordele Tifton Valdosta and other points.
