Lewis wins in Dooly and the third district election

The countywide primary produced a large vote with 2051 ballots and a tight contest between Lewis and Fort for Congress. Lewis carried key towns including Unadilla Pinehurst Vienna Cordele and 6th district precincts, while detailed results show majorities for county officers and a strong showing for the free silver delegation and Crisp for U S Senator.

Vienna Public Schools Graduation Week Highlights

The Vienna public schools held a two day commencement with recitations speeches music and concerts. Prof P D Pollock of Mercer University spoke on growth of matter mind and spirit, urging parents to model worthy behavior for future citizens. Watts Powell won the Progress medal and diplomas were awarded to Moss Watts Powell Alex Taylor and Mieses Buford Bryan Susie Lawrence with Buford Bryan also earning first honor and Lawrence second. Medals for declamation and general excellence were presented by Judge A V Whipple and Col J M Busbee.
