Reunion of Confederate Veterans at Unadilla a Grand Gathering
The Confederate Veterans reunion at Unadilla last Saturday drew three to four thousand attendees who praised Unadilla's hospitality and ample food. The program opened with song and featured speeches including a welcome by Mayor Wilson and a praise-filled address by Col Warren Grice. Miss Mamie Leonard's banner and Miss Leonard’s role as sponsor were highlighted, with Grice underscoring the Lost Cause. The Ladies Aid Society of the Methodist church held an entertainment at Mrs. L. Davies's residence on Wednesday evening June 29 to benefit their society. A large crowd enjoyed Vienna Orchestra conducted by Prof. Martin with cake and ice cream. The event drew praise as a splendid social occasion and the most entertaining in a long time.
