The Washington Bottings report James G Blaine died at 11 o clock Friday morning after a restless night. His death was peaceful and he remained conscious until moments before death as his family and nurses attended. Presidents Harrison and cabinet members were notified and offices closed in mourning. Blaine’s career included speaker of the Maine House, congressman, secretary of state, and a candidate for the presidency.

Freight rate reform under new South Carolina law
