Warned of death leads to multi policy fortune for Goddard
In Louisville on January 12 a party of society people sought a fortune teller for a joke. William Goddard refused to let his companion see the seeress after she warned him he would die within six weeks. He then bought life insurance policies totaling $35,000 payable to his father, with further policies added. He later died on a hunting trip on Christmas Eve, the outcome credited to the warning and subsequent policies. Other details include the names of companies and amounts.
