Night Buggy Accident Strands Two Girls Near Montezuma Road

Miss Eula Fuqua and Miss Minnie Fuqua were thrown from a buggy when a horse driven by a railroad official’s animal bolted as a train passed along a lane between fences and railroad property. Both were injured, Minnie more seriously, but no bones were broken. They were helped to Joe Smith's house and a physician summoned. Minnie remained unable to travel home until Tuesday evening. The buggy wrecked near the old canning factory as the frightened horse wandered through town. The incident prompts concern over road changes along the rail line and related safety.
